First Australian candidate for global Next Top Credit Union Executive search
An Australian marketing professional is the first non-North American to be identified in a global search for the credit union sector’s emerging leaders.
Leading credit union Community CPS Australia’s Direct Marketing Manger Cas Scott was nominated for her role in creating, maintaining and growing the credit union’s social media presence “We’re Listening”.
The search for the Next Top Credit Union Executive is run by the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES) to find emerging leaders under 35 years of age in the credit union industry.
Ms Scott has previously received international recognition for her work in the field, having won the Abacus Emerging Leader Award in 2009 and the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) Young Person Award in 2010. She has also presented on social media use in the financial sector at the WOCCU conference in Glasgow in 2011.
Community CPS uses its social media channels to share information about its grassroots community involvement – such as grants, fundraisers and volunteering opportunities – to create a closer connection between the organisation’s initiatives and its members.
“Our commitment to the communities in which we live and work is part of our daily operations, and we want our members to be a part of that, too. Using social media to engage with our members is the ideal platform to achieve this,” said Ms Scott.
“It is great to see the work we do at Community CPS recognised on the world stage and that our organisation is seen as leaders among our peers.
“After just winning Money magazine’s Credit Union of the Year award in June, this is fantastic news for us. The Next Top Credit Union Executive will be named in November, but there are a few more stages I need to progress through to make it into the final five.
“The next step is a public voting process to determine the top 15 candidates, one of four more stages to identify the winning participant.
“It’s an honour to be the first person outside the United States to be included in this search. It’s very exciting and I hope I can secure enough votes from my colleagues, peers and countrymen and women to advance to the next stage.”
Voting is open from 20 July to 31 July and can be done online via the website http://nexttopcreditunionexec.com/
