Credit Union SA welcomes changes to Visa Scheme Debit
Credit Union SA today welcomed major retailer Woolworths resuming acceptance of Visa Debit (as credit or debit selection) across all Woolworths group brands.
The approach of putting members first is important to Credit Union SA and by allowing the full choice of payment options at the checkout, our members can choose how they wish to transact.
Credit Union SA CEO Grant Strawbridge said "This decision is long overdue and mirrors our long-held view that members come first and value choice."
Woolworths announced in 2010 that it would route all its transactions by customers using scheme debit cards via the EFTPOS network but has now reversed this decision after conceding it was inconvenient.
Credit Unions have shown strong support for scheme debit because of its many advantages for members, who can use their own money to pay for purchases in local shops, online, over the phone and overseas.
Many Woolworths stores are already live and the remainder will be completed by this Friday. "We welcome today's announcement that will allow South Australians greater payment options at the checkout" Mr Strawbridge said.
