If you have a background in business management or high level investment activities and are interested in investing in Australia, starting up a new business in Australia or purchasing an ownership interest in an existing Australian business, you and your family may be eligible for permanent residence status under Australia's business migration program.

A Business Visitor visa allows the holder to remain in Australia for up to 3 months at a time to conduct business activities. Unlike a tourist visa, the business visitor visa cannot be extended whilst in Australia.

The visa has only limited work rights. Any work undertaken in Australia must not be ongoing in nature and must be for a maximum of 6 weeks. Work must be highly specialised and not able to be undertaken by an Australian permanent resident or citizen.

The visa also allows recreational activities including tourism and non-formal studies for up to three months.
Following are the various Business Visa subclasses:

Business owner (provisional) visa - Subclass 160:

This provisional visa allows business owners to be involved in new or existing business in Australia. This visa is granted for four years where the holders are allowed to enter the country as many times.

Senior Executive Provisional visa – Subclass 161:

This provisional visa is granted to those senior executives who have the skills and experience to manage a successful business in Australia allowing establishing new business.

Business Owner Residence Visa - Subclass 890:

This is a permanent residence visa which allows the visa holders unlimited travel to and from Australia for five years from the date the visa is granted.

Investor Provisional Visa – Subclass 162:

This visa is for people who have a successful business or investment career, and have a genuine and realistic commitment to be involved in investing or business in Australia. This visa is the progression towards a permanent business skilled visa.
