Readify, honored as worldwide 2012 Microsoft software development partner of the year, is working with Australian businesses to help them develop Windows 8 apps and train them around the new Microsoft platform.

As part of this effort Microsoft & Readify are hosting a roadshow with the theme: Modern Apps, Modern Processes. You are invited to join them for breakfast in your local city. Readify have kicked off their Windows 8 development with proof of concept for various industries, including government, entertainment, mining, retail and travel industries. Readify also has a number of consultants building business and productivity apps for the Windows 8 Store.

These apps include All About Money, a money tracking and organisation app that recently went live. There's also Pinboard, a Windows 8 Metro style application for the Pinboard bookmarking service, allowing users to manage their bookmarks from Windows.

Windows 8 is Microsoft's most serious effort yet to upgrade the world's most popular operating system. "Windows 8 is the most significant upgrade to Windows and the way people interact with personal computers and other devices since the advent of Windows 95 - 17 years ago," Readify points out.

Device makers and software developers are working overtime to put the wraps on Windows 8 devices and apps in time for the release of the Windows 8 operating system Oct. 26.

Windows 8 is an ambitious effort by Microsoft to bridge multiple computing devices: PCs, tablets and smartphones. Microsoft's new mainstream PC operating system comes with a new interface designed to work for the traditional keyboard and mouse, as well as the touch-screen.

According to Readify, Microsoft is unifying the user experience and interface across platforms including Windows Phone, Windows and Xbox. This coupled with Microsoft's cloud services will provide a seamless experience for users transitioning across both devices and platforms creating a level of user experience convergence previously unseen in our industry.

A Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, Readify believes it has the tools that would lure firms transitioning from Windows XP or Windows 7 to the new Windows 8 software ecosystem. Aside from its global win as Microsoft's software development partner of the year, Readify believes that what makes it stand out against competition is being first to market in any new Microsoft development platform and its close connections back to Microsoft product teams as referenced by the number of MVPs and VTSPs it has on the team.

Clients over the years include Universal Music, the Victorian Electoral Commission,Webjet, Australia Post, Queensland Department of Education and Training, GraysOnline, The Australian Rugby Union, e-commerce site Tireweb, St George School, NSW, Queensland-based digital agency isnt media, Job network provider Workways, the Westmead Breast Cancer Institute (BCI NSW), The Queensland Department of Child Safety, business management solutions provider MYOB, and child welfare services provider Barnardos.

"The key benefits of using Readify to assist with our projects are around the flexibility of their offering, the methodologies they use to meet our needs and also the skills and knowledge of their staff and their ability to transfer that knowledge to our existing development team" Steven Parrish, Director Information Solutions at Mater Health Services.
