WRQ Captures #2 Ranking In Web-To-Host Market According To IDC Report

In the recent IDC Worldwide Host Access Software Market Forecast and Analysis, 2001-2006, WRQ, Inc. was named as the number 2 vendor for Web-to-host, according to worldwide revenue market share. WRQ, a 21-year veteran in host integration and access, overtakes competitors and is now second to IBM on this leading Web-to-host provider list.
IDCs yearly report for this market sizes and segments the host access software opportunity and forecasts the five-year outlook. Data procurement is conducted via surveys and discussions with vendors. IDC splits the host access market into traditional and Web-to-host segments, and considers how each of these performs across four geographic areas: North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Rest of World. Vendor market share is ranked by shipments for the traditional segment, and by revenue for the Web-to-host segment.
The new IDC ranking adds to a growing record of milestones for WRQ in the Web-to-host segment, including significant license growth of WRQ Reflection for the Web in 2001 and the June release of version 5.0, also announced today.
By growing its customer base through competitive displacement, WRQ has ascended to second place in terms of market share for Web-to-host in 2001, said Max Flisi, associate analyst for Datacenter Networks at IDC. This achievement is all the more noteworthy at a time when competition is intense and when some vendors exhibited flat or negative growth in this space. WRQ should continue in this vein by focusing on ease of management and security within its products, and by working closely with its existing customer base breeding loyalty with current customers is what will prevent defection to competitors.
