Privacy Act Sparks Quick Action From Governmant Departments

Announcement posted by ComSecent Enterprises 18 Feb 2002

Multiple orders from Government Departments for Blancco Data Cleaner
Brisbane based ComSec Enterprises has reported several orders from significant Local, State, and Federal Government departments for the Blancco Data Cleaner. In the wake of the introduction of the new privacy amendments coming into effect late last year, many organizations are becoming increasingly concerned about how they retire surplus computers, and more particularly, how they dispose of the data on those computers.

The Blancco method ensures it is not possible to recover data using any of the existing methods known today. Government agencies have purchased Blancco Data Cleaner to ensure all trace of data is removed from computers prior to disposing of them. Blancco Data Cleaner allows these agencies to overwrite the entire contents of the hard disk in accordance with the US DoD standards for data erasure. This is a critical move bringing Australia into line with international standards of Privacy compliance.

Mr. Peter Lee, General manager of ComSec Enterprises says, "The issues surrounding residual data on hard disks is becoming common knowledge, the first sign of this is always pinpointed by Government agency activity. Many of these agencies are among the most secure organizations in the country with a need to ensure this problem ceases to be a headache for IT Security managers and Department heads alike".

Evaluation versions of the Blancco Data Cleaner may be purchased from www.comsecent.com.au for $29.95.
