TCL extends partnership with Melbourne Cup Carnival into eighth year

Announcement posted by TCL Australia 29 Oct 2012

Important brand association with ‘the race that stops a nation’ as company continues local growth

Melbourne, AUSTRALIA– TCL Electronics Australia Pty Ltd has today announced an extension to its partnership with the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) into an eighth successive year, and will again be the ‘Official TV Supplier’ to the Melbourne Cup Carnival in 2012. While there will be a variety of activities conducted with the VRC throughout the year, things will ramp up significantly in November during the VRC’s Melbourne Cup Carnival, at which time TCL product will be utilized throughout Flemington racecourse and brand exposure will deliver national reach and association with one of Australia’s most glamourous and watched sporting events.

This partnership is an important element of TCL’s brand awareness strategy in the Australian market. Originally signed to help mark their launch onto Australian shelves in 2005, TCL’s relationship with the VRC has delivered significant brand exposure and business development opportunities in its previous years and, coupled with TCL’s significant current growth, has led to this renewal.

As part of the agreement more than 400 TCL LCD and LED televisions will be installed throughout Flemington racecourse for the Melbourne Cup Carnival, enabling race-goers to see all the action from around the heritage listed racecourse. Five TCL-branded ‘super screens’ and additional signage will  ensure that the Australian television viewing public is also exposed to the TCL brand.

Guest hospitality throughout the Carnival and on Emirates Melbourne Cup day will ensure TCL are also able to host VIPs at a memorable and iconic Australian event while the ‘TCL SMART 3D TV Plate’ on Crown Oaks Day and support of Myer Fashions on the Field will directly link TCL to the glamour and prestige of Australian horseracing both on and off the track.

TCL is part of an exclusive list of well-known and highly respected local and global brands as key partners of the VRC, including Emirates, AAMI, Crown, James Boag’s, Longines and Myer. The ability to connect with and be seen alongside these brands as part of a national and iconic sporting event were all factors that lead to TCL’s renewal, according to Sunny Xiang, General Manager of TCL Electronics Australia.

“This relationship revolves around our ability to highlight the performance and sleek design of our products to a captivated and influential audience while simultaneously delivering national brand exposure during an iconic and quintessentially Australian sporting event,” said Xiang.

“It is important that we continually communicate the footprint and investment we have made in the Australian market. To play such an important role in enhancing the fan experience during ‘the race that stops a nation’ is one such way we will continue to change perceptions and build our brand equity in this important market.”

VRC CEO Dale Monteith said the Club was proud of its ongoing association with TCL.

“TCL not only enables us to provide our patrons with high definition coverage of racing across the racecourse, but is a natural brand fit for the Melbourne Cup Carnival,” said Mr Monteith.

“TCL has shown over many years now that it is not just a reliable partner in terms of both product and support, but can deliver this with the latest technology that is in line with the image we are creating around the track. We are delighted to extend our relationship with TCL.”
