Ciena Boosts its Australia and New Zealand Team with Appointment of New Managing Director

Wayne Moulton to lead operations locally
Sydney, Australia and Linthicum, Maryland, USANovember 1, 2012Ciena® Corporation, the network specialist, has appointed Wayne Moulton to the role of Managing Director, Ciena Australia and New Zealand.

An industry veteran of more than 20 years, Mr. Moulton will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of the company in local markets, as well as developing new business and building on existing relationships with customers such as AAPT, Australia-Japan Cable, Southern Cross Cable, Telstra Clear, VERN and Vodafone NZ.

“Wayne will help to strengthen our focus on the Australian and New Zealand markets,” says Anthony McLachlan, Vice President for Ciena Asia-Pacific. “Wayne joined us earlier in the year in a pan-APAC role working on numerous projects, and I am pleased to have Wayne on the team and now leading the ANZ business. His leadership and customer focus will be well-appreciated as we build on the strong momentum we’ve established over a highly successful year locally.”

Mr. Moulton joined Ciena in April this year from Alcatel-Lucent, where he was Vice President for Global Customers, Marketing and Strategy Communications. He spent three years at Alcatel-Lucent in several senior management roles defining and meeting business requirements for carriers across Europe, USA, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, India, Hong Kong, and Japan.

Prior to that, Mr. Moulton was employed by Nortel for 17 years, where he focused on the Australian market and key initiatives in Asia. His roles included commercial management, product management and international sales across multiple regions. Mr. Moulton holds a Bachelor Degree with Distinction in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and has been awarded the Institute of Engineers, Australia Medal.
