REMINDER: New legislation in NSW regarding use of mobile phones and hands-free devices while driving comes into effect today
REMINDER: New legislation in NSW regarding use of mobile phones and hands-free devices while driving comes into effect today
SYDNEY, Australia – 1 November 2012 – Jabra would like to remind drivers
in NSW that the State Government has today launched new legislation for mobile
phone use in cars.
The updated legislation states, “A driver may only use a mobile phone to make
or receive a call or use the audio playing function: if the mobile phone is
secured in a fixed mounting OR if not in a mounting, use of the mobile phone
must not require the driver to touch or manipulate the phone in any way.”
Karen Powell, Regional Sales Manager for Jabra Consumer Australia and New
Zealand, said, “With this new legislation coming into effect today, many
drivers will be seeking ways they can stay in touch, stay safe and stay within
the law while on the road. Voice-activated headsets and in-car speakers
are the ideal solution for those drivers. Voice activation means drivers don’t
have to touch their mobile or smart phones to make a call, answer a call, hold
a conversation or end a call.
“Safety and comfort are two of the primary factors incorporated into the design
of Jabra’s in-car range, with several products providing the driver with 100
per cent hands-free, voice-activated functionality and clear sound whilst on
the road.”
Jabra’s voice-activated in-car products include Jabra FREEWAY, Jabra TOUR and Jabra CRUISER2.
