BRANDSCREEN HIRES TWO INDUSTRY HEAVYWEIGHTS: CHIEF SCIENTIST AND VP ENGINEERING

November 7, 2012: The first and biggest demand side platform (DSP) in Australia and the Asia Pacific region, BRANDSCREEN, has made two key high-level appointments, hiring Chief Scientist Dr Tom Osborn and VP Engineering Glenn Butcher.

Dr Osborn is an analytics specialist and data strategist, specialising in customer behaviour prediction, valuation and market structure and has consulted to advertising agencies and marketing services clients for ROMI optimisation across all industry sectors.

Dr Osborn began his career with a PhD in complex dynamical systems and statistical mechanics at the University of Newcastle and followed with a long academic career taking in research and teaching positions at UTS, UNSW and the University of Southern California.

He then moved into market research working for companies such as The Leading Edge, Wunderman, George Patterson Y&R and is currently also Adjunct Professor (analytics), Centre of Quantum Computing and Intelligent Systems at UTS.

Butcher joins BRANDSCREEN from technology heavy hitters Atlassian, where he was Director of SaaS Engineering. He is a passionate technologist, with a diverse technology background in online products having built development, operations, infrastructure, performance, and security teams at various organisations.

He began his career with the Navy in its IT & Communications branch moving on to the Institute of Child Research and Health as IT Manager, then Internode as Systems Security and Content Manager, prior to joining Atlassian.

At BRANDSCREEN as Vice President Engineering, Butcher will be responsible for the creation and implementation of BRANDSCREEN'S proprietary software.

BRANDSCREEN CEO Julian Tol said the skills and experience added by Osborn and Butcher were critical factors in allowing BRANDSCREEN to make the jump from Aussie tech startup to global growth company. The company recently secured over $11m of Series B funding from Macquarie Capital, SingTel-Innov8 and SXVP, which will assist its push into new territories across the Asia Pacific, including China, Japan and South Korea.
