Arbor Networks Announces OEM Partnership with Cisco Systems

Arbor Networks, Inc., a leading provider of network security and management solutions for enterprise and service provider networks, today announced an OEM partnership with Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking that transforms how people connect, communicate and collaborate. Cisco has licensed the Peakflow^® SP Threat Management System (TMS) from Arbor Networks to provide DDoS mitigation capabilities on the Cisco CRS router.

The vast majority of the world’s leading service providers rely on Arbor Networks to proactively help fend off malicious threats such as botnets and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, while strengthening the availability and quality of their services. Arbor’s Peakflow platform combines network-wide anomaly detection and traffic engineering with carrier-class threat mitigation, which automatically detects and surgically removes attack traffic, while maintaining other traffic. With the ability to mitigate only the attack traffic, customer-facing services remain available while providers actively mitigate attacks.

Cisco Carrier Grade Service Engine (CGSE) DDoS Mitigation Software

The Cisco CGSE is a single-slot module supported on Cisco's proven high-end, carrier-class routing system -- the Cisco CRS-1. By embedding Arbor’s DDoS mitigation technology within the CRS router, service providers are able to stop DDoS attacks at the backbone or peering/transit edge of the network, eliminating the need to reroute attack traffic to dedicated scrubbing centres. This helps protect core bandwidth and infrastructure while easing logistics and operational expenses associated with DDoS attack protection. The combined solution also enables protection of the network backbone and services offered by the service provider against attacks originating from both the outside and the inside of the service provider network. Finally, service providers can leverage the solution to offer revenue generating managed DDoS mitigation services to enterprise customers.
