Starcom Mediavest Group takes dual crown at Festival of Media Global

Starcom MediaVest Group has been named Network of the Year at the prestigious Global Festival of Media Awards in Montreux overnight. In addition the US agency was also named agency of the Year.

Starcom MediaVest Group has been named Network of the Year at the prestigious Global Festival of Media Awards in Montreux overnight. In addition the US agency was also named agency of the Year.

In total, the agency won four categories (Effectiveness, Creative Use of Media, Social and Digital Integration) in addition to three High Commendations, from a total of 33 shortlists.

Agency Network of the Year is calculated by points for wins and shortlists, with the Australian agency contributing to the points tally with seven shortlists for its work on Virgin Mobile, Mars Petcare and Network Ten.

Starcom’s Emirates campaign was also recognised with CNN winning Best Contribution by a Media Owner for its Fusion Journeys branded content series.

Starcom MediaVest Director of Global Product and Australian Chairman, John Sintras, was in Montreux for the awards and was on the final jury panel.

“This is a great result for our network and further validation that our focus on meaningful experience creation is paying dividends for our clients," he said.

“It was particularly gratifying to see so many shortlisted campaigns from Australian agencies, with many of the 30 jurors commenting on the dominance of Aussie shortlists during the judging.

“Congratulations to Naked whose excellent Steal Banksy campaign won the Best Event/Experiential category and UM who picked up a commendation in the Braves Branded Content category for McDonald’s Gets Grilled.”

“The overall standard of work was excellent, and it is astonishing how quickly innovative approaches become mainstream – the bar keeps lifting. I'm really excited to see how much more great work will be showcased and recognised in the Cannes Festival which is just around the corner.”
