Payroll in Xero is changing the way small businesses do their payroll reporting, saving them time and improving productivity. Over 140,000 employees have been paid more than $2.5b with Xero Payroll.

“The launch of Xero Payroll API demonstrates the value that Xero places on providing developers and users with a platform that opens itself up to benefits of revenue generation, traffic growth and innovation,” says Chris Ridd, Managing Director, Xero Australia. “Xero is rapidly delivering new products that benefit small businesses and Add-on partners.”

“We’re excited to be integrating with Xero Payroll” said Ashik Ahmed, CTO Deputy.com. “Through the open API, geo-locatable timesheets captured with iPhone and iPad kiosks in Deputy can be exported to Xero Payroll without the need for any further data entry. Our customers can now expect 1-click setup of employees from Xero to Deputy and 1-click export of hundreds of timesheets from Deputy to Xero. We have taken payroll processing from a four hour job on Monday to a two minute job for 100’s of Deputy customers using the Xero Payroll API!”.

“Xero is demonstrating leadership amongst other accounting solutions with their speed of releases and the innovation of their open API ” said Richard Breden, Managing Director, enableHR, a best of breed HR and WHS solution that aligns with Xero’s practice studio. “We think the release of Xero Payroll API is a huge step forward and the new functionality will make it even easier for business owners and Xero partners to streamline accounting, payroll and HR – drastically reducing administration for business owners, their accountants or their bookkeepers”.

This release comes on the anniversary of Payroll’s first birthday in Australia and two years since the founding company Paycycle was acquired by Xero. As well as the Payroll API, Xero released another two exciting new features this week, payment services and accountants workpapers demonstrating the speed of Innovation now occurring in the small business cloud.
