Easy and affordable administration centralizes and simplifies information protection management
Legato Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: LGTO), a worldwide leader in enterprise storage management software, today announced the immediate availability of a web-enabled solution designed to simplify information protection management in environments ranging from the largest data centers to the smallest distributed branch offices. Legato GEMS Console enables local and remote management of Legato NetWorker capabilities, while simultaneously gathering a wide variety of metrics from distributed NetWorker backup resources.
"GEMS Console is a very easy application to install and deploy. Not having to install any software on any of our NetWorker servers or any third party software on the GEMS Console server allowed us to have GEMS Console up and running in less than an hour, said Jeff Wade, Sr. Systems Analyst at SAFECO.
"The priority icons associated with each of the NetWorker events makes it very easy for operators to quickly scan and prioritize the activities taking place within a NetWorker environment," said Bob Reynolds, NT System Administrator, Harris Corporation.
Legato GEMS Console is an affordable, intuitive, timesaving and easy-to-deploy product that simplifies management of NetWorker Servers running on UNIX, Linux or Windows. System administrators now can administer, monitor and report on NetWorker servers from any system running either Netscape Communicator or Microsoft Internet Explorer, on or off site, using a single browser-based Legato NetWorker Administration Interface, regardless of the NetWorker server platform.
GEMS Consoles convenience, efficiency and affordability will make it the first choice for NetWorker users who want a comprehensive, integrated solution for administering, monitoring and reporting on their storage environments," said Charles Fonner, vice president, worldwide marketing, Legato Systems. This product was developed specifically to simplify enterprise storage management and maximize administrative productivity.
By providing centralized management of multiple NetWorker server events and by using priority icons, GEMS Console enables administrators to monitor their NetWorker environments and to take quick, corrective action to help ensure the success of data backups. Legato GEMS Console offers a centralized view for all notifications across the enterprise on a single computer and single GUI. Easy-to-scan icons are used to quickly monitor many events based on priority, category or originating server.
The Legato GEMS Console makes it possible to:
Manage NetWorker from any system on the Internet whether located on-site or remotely to leverage valuable administration resources
Simplify information protection management and maximize administrative productivity by reducing management overhead and automating manual tasks
See the entire data protection environment graphically from one screen, which facilitates administration and focus on relevant backup servers saving administration time
Reduce training costs by enabling operators to administer any NetWorker server from a single common GUI regardless of the NetWorker server platform
Increase productivity by allowing administrators to immediately bring up a specific NetWorker Administrator GUI and address issues within that environment
Provide real-time monitoring of an enterprise data protection environment and allow operators to instantly drill down to diagnose and resolve problems or potential problems with NetWorker resources
Reduce risk via a consolidated and concise report on the exact result of a given days backup, allowing administrators to instantly drill down to diagnose why a client experienced a problem and take immediate corrective action
Perform trend analysis based on saved backups
