MYOB launches significant new API enhancements

Celebrates 400 API developer partners + revamped developer & add-on centres

Australia’s largest accounting software provider, MYOB today reveals a raft of new enhancements for its application programming interface (API). The enhancements include new sale invoices integration, a popular feature request for clients of flagship cloud-enabled accounting solution AccountRight Live.

The technology company also officially launched its revamped developer centre (http://developer.myob.com) and add-on centre (http://myob.com.au/addons). The developer centre provides access to API information, partner resources, community forum, developer program and more. The add-on centre enables MYOB clients to browse and search for compatible third-party add-on solutions from developer partners.

Chief Technology Officer Simon Raik-Allen says, “We’ve received tremendous interest from developers – at launch we had 65 API developer partners and in less than six months, we have more than 400 on board. We’re really stoked, and even more pleased that we can offer our clients a greater range of add-ons to suit their needs.

“We’re continuing to make our API more feature-rich and even easier to use. We’ve recently added the top two most requested features - sale invoices and customer payments - with more already in the pipeline. We’ve also released a .Net SDK to assist developers creating and integrating apps for PCs, smartphones and tablets. With the .Net SDK, developers can get up and running and access AccountRight Live in minutes.

“In addition, our developer partners can now better market their solutions with our new add-on centre. They can also track each add-on’s search effectiveness through Google Analytics.”

Leading budget and cash flow software provider Calxa (http://calxa.com.au) has released an updated solution that integrates with MYOB AccountRight Live and its team is enjoying working with the API.

Calxa CEO Mick Devine says, “The MYOB API gives us the tools to provide accurate and reliable cash flow forecasts based on MYOB AccountRight Live. Our customers have been waiting for this and they are thrilled with the result. On a technical note, our development team love the API – it’s the best of all the major accounting software providers and we can’t speak highly enough of the support we’ve had from the guys at MYOB.”

The API is available for use with any programming languages on multiple platforms such as Mac and Windows, including devices running iOS, Android and Windows Mobile operating systems. The MYOB API developer program is open and free to any developer who wants to create and integrate add-on solutions that make business life easier for AccountRight Live clients. The program also offers three levels of membership to suit different needs.
