Thomas Duryea invests $2m plus to build-on cloud services

Announcement posted by Thomas Duryea Consulting 10 Oct 2013

10 October, 2013: Melbourne, Australia – Australian IT infrastructure services provider, Thomas Duryea (TD), has bolstered its cloud services offerings investing more than $2m to build-out its cloud platform on new generation software, ensuring robust service delivery (DR as a service, Infrastructure as a service and Backup as a service) with product bundles that can be tailored for the mid-market to the enterprise.

TD’s cloud, built on market-leading technologies from EMC, VMWare, Cisco, and Zerto, has seen an overwhelming response from the market to the solution, revealing massive latent demand in robust yet tailored datacentre technologies amongst Australia’s organisations, both large and small.

In a strategic play to own the data centre from on premise to the cloud, TD’s CEO, Andrew Thomas, said the company’s investment has cemented its position as an industry leader in cloud solutions.

“The investment completes TD’s ambition to build a state-of-the-art platform, to bolster our cloud services offering as second to none in the market. With a deep heritage in data centre solutions we are poised to assist organisations, of any size, transition to a hybrid cloud model.

“When customers start leveraging the power of the hybrid cloud, they quickly realise that it’s the best of both worlds. They can achieve higher levels of cross-site resiliency, increase the ROI on existing investments, make use of the public cloud, and, still enjoy the cost savings that a fully hosted solution provides.

“The mid market has been especially underserviced when it comes to hybrid cloud, with many providers working under the assumption that they are more willing to move entire IT environments to the public cloud. While we believe this may be the case eventually and it is certainly something our platform supports, for the next three to five years we will see organisations invest in the hybrid model, outsourcing parts of their infrastructure that they don’t have the skills or resources to manage internally.

“We have seen that customers want a hybrid model as they want to keep the investment in some of their existing infrastructure on site while also reaping the benefits of a cloud service,” Thomas said.

Foundation cloud customers including Save the Children, Arena and Oxfam have historically been cautious in adopting cloud services, with resistance stemming from a lack of services that met each organisation’s needs. Now, utilising Thomas Duryea’s cloud services, these customers are now realising the power of a hybrid cloud solution running production workloads.

TD’S investment, in its cloud services, focuses on three customer-orientated features:

  • Performance. The whole infrastructure is built on tier-1 technology with the highest level of performance available. All customers gain access to this technology by default making the platform suitable for production workloads for organisations of all sizes.

  • Direct connect. Unlike competitive offerings, TD’s cloud allows for multiple direct network connections with low latency and high bandwidth links making it a direct extension of existing on-premise datacentre infrastructure. For people running a hybrid cloud, a seamless experience is critical to realising the value of the solution.

  • Complete IT integration expertise – With over 13 years’ experience in building data centre infrastructure from the device and application through to the data centre, Thomas Duryea’s cloud services are supported by a team of IT Architects and Engineers that understand the complete technology landscape in a customer’s environment. All services are Australian-based with a support desk based in Australia.

“The demand is so strong that in just two months of our new generation cloud architecture being commercially available we have thirty clients transitioned to the platform and cemented our position as a leader in the space,” Thomas said.
