Peter Edwards shares the sweetest spots for your most special photos.
Perth, WA,  October 21, 2013 - Western Australia teems with gorgeous natural beauty and Peter Edwards, Master Wedding Photographer and owner of Peter Edwards Photography, says the area in and surrounding Perth is full of hidden gems for the perfect location for your wedding photography.

“Perth is full of fantastic settings for any special occasion photos,” Edwards says, “both indoors and outdoors. I’d like to share my favourite places that I’ve been on location.”

The tranquillity of Kings Park Botanical Gardens cannot be rivalled. Hugely popular with locals and tourists alike, it is a fabulous location with a variety of photographic settings. It’s a rare gem in the middle of Perth city.

For the urbanite couple, the Fraser Avenue Lookout in Kings Park offers a spectacular view of the city skyline and the Swan River. “It’s simply amazing,” Edwards says. “Most people, when hiring wedding photographers and getting photos taken, don’t think about having them taken with a city backdrop. The Swan River flowing through Perth is a big part of the Perth City lifestyle and can be meaningful to a couple—especially if it’s where they met or perhaps were engaged.”

Tranquil, picturesque Burns Beach, near the outskirts of Joondalup, is a natural spot with gorgeous, rocky coastline and not typically ‘busy’, so the opportunity for wedding photography is perfect. Edwards prefers to shoot here close to sunset, when the setting sun creates the magic light, ideal for soft romantic wedding photos.

Other more popular Perth beaches include Cottesloe and Scarborough, with pure white sand and long beaches.

A bit off the beaten track in the Swan Valley is a wine country. Although it’s approximately a 45 minute trip away from Perth, the vineyards bearing their precious fruit makes for a spectacular backdrop for wedding photography. Many of the vineyards have been in the same European families for centuries. Edwards says, “There is something inherently romantic about wine - and Western Australia’s wine country just adds that feeling of romance to wedding photos.” Besides having great locations for wedding and pre-wedding photography, the Swan Valley also boasts great venues for wedding ceremonies and receptions.

For a little exotic flair,  The Perth Zoo is a unique venue. Weddings have actually been held in the Zoo but its Heritage Trail and botanical gardens provide a unique backdrop to any special occasion photos.

Out in Roleystone, the Araluen Botanic Park is situated in a forested valley of the Darling Range. With its terraced gardens, stone monuments, giant trees and multitude of flowers, Araluen is one of Perth’s prime shooting locations. There’s also a variety of ceremony locations and reception venues in the area to take advantage of and keep traveling to a minimum.
