Perth, WA, October 28, 2013 - Spring in Western Australia is a lovely affair as flowers begin to bloom and that inspires trend makers to craft a wedding to remember. It’s the perfect season for couples to march down the aisle!

Master Wedding Photographer Peter Edwards is no stranger to the wedding scene and he has witnessed everything in between, from classic to outrageous fashion and from traditional park settings to skyline shots for the wedding snaps. “Australians are nothing short of creative when it comes to their special day,” he says. “I just enjoy photographing it all.”

October is becoming one of the busiest months for Australian weddings. Spring inspires couples to plan their big day during this month as the weather warms gradually.

In the footwear department, ladies’ heels are still popular - but bucking the trend of 10" heels seen over the last couple of seasons, a shorter heel height seems to be in style now. Flats or sandals are still being seen sported by tall girls  – especially for beach weddings. Perth brides are breaking with tradition, opting dressy designer flat sandals over high or low-heeled wedding shoes. “Sandals are making a trend in spring,” Edwards says. “Brides look great in a beautifully turned pair of dressy sandals with a more ‘casual’ bridal dress. Sandals go naturally well with beach weddings.” Brides and bridesmaids also often bring along thongs to wear if there's lots of walking involved, and to slip on under the bridal table at the end of the night!

Bridegrooms have sometimes been seen wearing not the usual black oxford, but more recently, leather sandal or thongs , especially at beach weddings during warm weather. Having the groom and groomsmen all wearing matching shoes makes a modern statement and it gives the Perth wedding photographer more ideas on how to manage the snaps.

Also, Western Australia’s miles and miles of naturally beautiful coastline is rapidly becoming the go-to location for weddings, as Aussie brides and grooms forego chapel weddings for one that communes with nature. “Church weddings are great but we have seen beach weddings exponentially grow lately,” says Edwards.

Brides and grooms have sometimes been seen going barefoot at their ceremony whilst wearing formal long gowns and tuxedos and the beach enhances the scene. “Casual is king in Australia during the spring, especially with footwear or sometimes the lack of it. It shows that the couple can be playful and comfortable with their surroundings on the most important day of their lives.”

A handy tip: Spring can be a tricky season — sunshine one day, showers the next. Be on the safe side and take along a few golf umbrellas to keep you dry—just in case the heavens open up!

Now, as far as unique locations go, botanical gardens are picking up in popularity during the spring. Candid weddings in non-traditional settings reflect the uniqueness of each couple, says Edwards. “We really enjoy photographing the couple and the party in varying locales. You can see the delight on their faces and it makes our wedding photography team smile as well.”
