Aurecon appoints Rosemary Johnson Ports and Coastal Leader

Rosemary who has worked with Aurecon for over 21 years relocates from the Brisbane office in Australia, to the Pretoria office in South Africa. She will use her expertise to strengthen the Company’s ports business in Africa and build on relationships with international and local clients.

A port engineer, Rosemary specialises in seaboard bulk materials handling and port planning. She has been involved with strategic planning, design, design management and construction management of major multidisciplinary port projects, in Australia, Asia and Africa.

Rosemary has a strong track record of stakeholder engagement, problem definition, and facilitation of decision making in master planning phases, achieving high levels of client satisfaction.  More recently she has focussed on structuring offerings to clients to give them access to Aurecon’s full mine, rail, and port project delivery capability.

Major coal export terminal projects Rosemary has worked on include Port of Nacala in Mozambique, Pulau Laut and Kelanis in Indonesia, and Dalrymple Bay, Hay Point, Dudgeon Point, Abbot Point, and Wiggins Island in Australia. Other key projects include Fort Dauphin Port (in Madagascar), Abbot Point Multi Cargo Facility, Mackay New Raw Sugar Wharf, Mackay Small Craft Harbour and Breakwater, Wagner’s Cement Inloading Facility, all in Australia.

On her relocation and taking on this new role Rosemary said: “I am very excited to be developing relationships with our Africa and Middle East leaders and ports and coastal teams.  I am looking forward to making a positive contribution to the ports and coastal business in Africa.  My family is also enjoying settling into one of the prettiest garden cities in the world.”
