Childcare Centres in Perth Celebrate Christmas with Children and Parents

Announcement posted by Cuddles Childcare Centre 08 Jan 2014

Cuddles Childcare Centres extend warmest holiday wishes to children and parents from their Perth area locations.
Perth, WA, 8 January 2014 - It was a banner year for Cuddles Childcare Centres and their Perth area locations.  Their motto is “Learning through Play” and Christmas parties at their Bertram, St James and Carlisle Centres vividly illustrated their effective and fun approach to child care

At Cuddles Childcare Centre Bertram, their party included water spray bottles, sausage sizzle, a jumping castle, trampoline play and outside activities that served as a prelude to presents from Santa.  Not only were the children very happy, but so was the record crowd of more than 100 parents who attended and participated in the fun with their children.

At Cuddles Childcare Centre Carlisle, the party was similar.  This one featured, among other activities, face painting and a BBQ.  Santa showed up at Carlisle, too and a good time was had by all.

At Cuddles Childcare Centre St James, the children were active and enthusiastic, starting out the festivities with stirring renditions of Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Jingle Bell Rock.  Then, the children showed off their happy feet with some Happy Feet Dancing; parents were encouraged to join in and many did.  Santa made it to St James, too, capping off an energetic day of activities.

Learning through Play

The motto of Cuddles Childcare Centres is “Learning through Play.”  It is based on the concept that with moderately directed but self-determining play, children of all ages learn faster than by other methods.  This works especially well for preschool children, who aren’t fully developed in many of the skills it takes to learn in the traditional school environment.

Cuddles Childcare Centres provide a plethora of activities for children that help them learn while they play.  These include: Friday Fun Day, Jessie’s Art Time, Junior Soccer Goals, Messy Play, Happy Feet Fitness and Jolly Phonics.  These activities help children learn while they are having fun.  They don’t even know they are supposed to be learning anything and they don’t see it as “work” or “drudgery.” They just play, have a good time and learning is a byproduct as opposed to a task or a goal.

According to Michelle Novatscou, Operations Manager of the Cuddles Childcare Centres, every day could be a holiday at Cuddles: “We all had a lot of fun at the Christmas parties, from staff to children to parents.  Christmas is a very special time for all and we are always happy to be a part of celebrating with our children and their parents.  Really, though, children have this much fun at our school all year.”

Ms Novatscou continued, “We go out of our way to make sure that every child gets to experience a plethora of diverse activities that allows him or her to play with others.  To the children, they aren’t learning; they are playing.  This is quite efficient because there is no intention involved, only organic learning.  Children play games, have a great time and learn along the way.”

Ms Novatscou concluded, “I would like to take this opportunity to extend the warmest holiday wishes to everyone from all of us at Cuddles Childcare Centres and wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2014.  We look forward to another great year of learning through play.”
