Love blooms at Sydney Markets this Valentine’s Day

Announcement posted by Sydney Markets 13 Feb 2014

Sydney, AUSTRALIA – 13 February 2014 – There’s no replacing a gorgeous bouquet of flowers this Valentine’s Day as hundreds of florists are expected to head down to the Sydney Flower Markets in the early hours of February 14 to ensure ample supplies for their customers.

Red roses are expected to be the Valentine’s Day favourite at the Sydney Markets, where countless blooms are anticipated to be sold.

Brad Latham, CEO of Sydney Markets, says that Valentine’s Day remains one of the single, busiest days of the year for the flower growers at Sydney Markets.

“Our growers tell us that the demand for flowers on this special day can double, even triple that of a regular day with only mother’s day surpassing it in volume.  It will be incredibly exciting to be at the markets and experience the rush as thousands of people walk around with huge bouquets of flowers this Friday.”

“Over the years, a beautiful bouquet of flowers is still the most popular gift of choice on Valentine’s Day.   Flowers make you feel special and will usually be the talk of the office!” added Latham.

If you’re stuck on what kind of flowers to buy your special loved one on Valentine’s Day, Sydney Markets has the following tips:

  • Roses: Red roses are the universal way of saying “I love you” and are a symbol of love and romance.  If you don’t want to go down the traditional route this Valentine’s Day, you could also buy a bouquet of pink, lavender or yellow roses.  Just remember, yellow roses are typically a sign of a platonic friendship!
  • Gerberas: These cheery blooms usually symbolise beauty, innocence and purity.  With so many hues to choose from, gerbera daisies are sure to brighten your loved ones day.
  • Tulips: If you’re looking for flowers to declare your love, but don’t want to break the bank, then tulips are an excellent choice.  These simple, yet elegant blooms will be sure to warm any heart.
  • Lilies:  These classic buds are another great alternative to red roses.  While lilies usually stand for beauty and style, while pink lilies represent friendship and devotion.  Whatever colour you choose, lilies are a sophisticated choice for Valentine’s Day.
