FileMaker Names Frank Lu as Vice President of Engineering

Software industry veteran has deep engineering experience at FileMaker and Siebel/Oracle
Sydney, Australia – April 1, 2014 – FileMaker, Inc. today announced the promotion of Frank Lu to vice president of engineering, to lead the company’s engineering teams and set the direction for the company’s award-winning software development platform. He replaces Simon Thornhill, who retires at the end of next month.
 
Lu has served for the last eight years as senior director leading R&D for the FileMaker Platform, which includes FileMaker Pro, FileMaker Go for iPad and iPhone, FileMaker Pro Advanced and FileMaker Server.  In total, he has been with FileMaker for more than 14 years. He came to FileMaker from Siebel/Oracle, where he worked as technical manager and director of engineering for eight years on system structure to support high-performance and high-scalability CRM applications.

“Frank has excellent inside knowledge of FileMaker, as well as outside experience in areas such stability, scalability and performance, which are important to the success of FileMaker,” said Dominique Goupil, president of FileMaker.

Lu earned a master’s degree in computer science from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey.
