Fracht Australia reduces its carbon footprint through SolarMax

Announcement posted by SolarMax 07 May 2014

Sydney, Australia, 7 May, 2014: SolarMax announced today that it has provided grid-connected solar inverters to Fracht Australia, a global freight forwarding company through its installation partner, Bollson Energy.

SolarMax delivered four 15kW 15MT2 and one 10kW 10MT2 grid connected inverters through Bollson Energy to Fracht Australia’s Banksmeadow warehouse in New South Wales for a 70kW rooftop solar PV system.

The solar PV system will support the company’s warehousing operations and it will generate close to 100MWh of solar power annually. It is expected to save Fracht Australia up to $17,000 a year and reduce its reliance on electricity from the grid. The system is expected to reduce Fracht Australia’s carbon emissions by 106 tonnes every year and deliver an internal rate of return (IRR) of 27 percent per annum.

Keith Smith, Chief Financial Officer of Fracht Australia said, “Globally, Fracht had made a conscious decision to embed sustainability in our company philosophy and we take the environmental impact of our operations seriously. Solar power helps us to reduce our carbon footprint and our investment in a quality solar PV system with Swiss quality inverters supplied by SolarMax helps us to achieve this objective.”

Fracht Australia turned to solar energy to help its growing requirement for electricity and to meet its future energy needs. The solar PV installation for its warehouse is expected to supply up to 60 percent of its energy requirements.

Gavin Merchant, Key Account Manager for SolarMax Australia said, “Fracht Australia is a good example of businesses who have taken a greater interest in minimising their carbon footprint through the use of solar energy. We are delighted they have chosen our quality Swiss-made solar inverters. Bollson Energy has done a wonderful job in helping companies like Fracht Australia understand why it is important to invest in quality inverters as they offer a higher level of operational efficiency for any installation.”

Wayne Xiong, Chief Operating Officer at Bollson Energy said, “The cost of electricity at its peak is seven times the cost of solar energy and this makes solar a very attractive proposition for businesses. We believe more businesses in Australia should look to companies like Fracht who are doing this for altruistic reasons and as a way of demonstrating their commitment to the environment.”

SolarMax’s MT series inverters are easy to install, reliable and designed to last. With a maximum efficiency of up to 98 percent, these inverters are suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations. The MT series inverters satisfy the safety requirements stated in AS/NZS 5033:2012 standards (IEC 62109-1/-2) as well as the AS 4777.2 and AS 4777.3 standards. SolarMax products are accredited by the Clean Energy Council (CEC). All SolarMax string inverters have a five year standard warranty which can be extended up to 25 years.
