Community Fundraising BBQ to support the Wagga Wagga Rescue Squad

Leading customer-owned bank, Beyond Bank Australia continues to deliver on its commitment to the Wagga community, announcing a joint fund raising effort with Wagga Rescue to raise the additional funds necessary to purchase a new rescue vehicle for the squad.

In late 2013 at a ceremony attended by more than 150 community leaders from across the Riverina, Wagga Rescue Squad received a Foundation Grant for $20,000 to help with the purchase of a new rescue vehicle for the community.

Wagga Rescue Squad President, Ray Willett said “while the $20,000 grant from Beyond Bank is very generous and will certainly help towards the purchase of our new rescue vehicle, we are now calling upon the community to help us to raise the additional funds needed for the vehicle.”

To launch the fundraising appeal Beyond Bank will be hosting a community BBQ on Thursday 5th June from 11am, outside the Beyond Bank branch in Peter Street and are encouraging the community to come along and help raise funds to support the Wagga Rescue Squad.

Volunteers from the Wagga Men’s Shed have generously offered their time to cook for us and representatives from the Rescue Squad will also be there to lend a hand with the BBQ.

There is also a trivia night organised for Saturday 28 June to be held at the Commercial Club.  The evening will commence at 7pm and will cost individuals $10 per head.

The Wagga Wagga Rescue Squad was formed in 1950 to provide essential rescue service's for the Wagga Wagga and surrounding region. It is the oldest volunteer rescue organisation in Australia and sparked the creation of the NSW Volunteer Rescue Association, which now represents more than 70 squads across the state.
