To coincide with the 25th anniversary of National Volunteering Week, Volunteering Australia and Beyond Bank have launched a ‘Cheers for Volunteers’ social media campaign.

The campaign is designed to celebrate the work volunteers do and provides everyone with the opportunity to thank the people in their lives who selflessly volunteer.

The ‘Cheers for Volunteers’ campaign includes a variety of fun ‘thank you’ messages and images that people can use to support and thank their friends and family who volunteer, by sending messages via their social networks.

Everyone knows someone in the community that volunteers, who tirelessly and selflessly supports organisations who need a helping hand, so people can show their support by searching for our ‘Cheers for Volunteers’ posts on either facebook or twitter, adding their messages, and sharing content with their family and friends.

Peter Rutter, General Manager Community Development at Beyond Bank said “the program is designed to acknowledge and thank volunteers for the great work they do in the community, and the campaign provides a great vehicle for all Australians to show their support for volunteering.”

“Beyond Bank is the major corporate partner of Volunteering Australia, and we are delighted that this campaign has launched and is already receiving strong support from the public,” Mr Rutter said.

Volunteering Australia CEO, Brett Williamson said ‘We really appreciate the support Beyond Bank Australia is providing with this campaign.  It’s a testament to our relationship and shows Beyond Bank’s strong commitment to helping us build the profile of volunteering in this country.”

‘It’s pleasing to see that in the few days since we’ve launched the ‘Cheers for Volunteers’ campaign, and before any promotion has taken place, we have already had such a strong response and people are getting involved. It’s great to see the posts as people recognise and say ‘thank you’; and the ongoing costs from their family and friends of support.  It just demonstrates the special place that volunteers hold in the hearts of Australians.”

‘It’s a perfect partnership between Volunteering Australia and Beyond Bank, our corporate values align perfectly, we both care about our customers clients and we know that supporting volunteers means we are helping someone make a difference in their community,” Mr Williamson said.

If people want to get involved or send messages of support to their hero volunteers, the social media sites are www.facebook.com/VolunteerCheers and www.twitter.com/VolunteerCheer.
