Busy mum’s launch positive digital magazine for teen girls

Announcement posted by Molly and Fox 12 Jun 2014

Take two busy mums running businesses of their own, a desire to make a difference to teen girls, a love of writing and throw it all together and you get Molly and Fox, a free new digital magazine for girls aged 10-15.

Kim Victoria, mother of three, with her own real estate business and Leanne Koster, mother of two and digital communications consultant for the National Asthma Council decided that there was nothing they would like to do more with there spare time than produce a monthly magazine that they hoped would make a difference to teen girls.

So what makes this magazine any different to the hundreds of others available on the local newsagent shelf or via the internet?

With a tagline of designed to inspire, Molly and Fox has set out to let their readers know that it really is ok to be yourself. That they don’t have to try and live up to the unrealistic expectations of today’s advertising and media industries.

“We are not just about body image, we are about celebrating all the unique qualities of these girls – the smart, the sporty, the artistic, the writers and the ones who are not quite sure where they fit just yet”, says Kim.

Filled with interesting articles both newsworthy and with a positive focus, it is a fun new way to interact with teenage girls about their self worth and how they fit in this world. Accessible from their computers, tablets or mobile phones, the embedded video clips and links make this magazine a modern, dynamic and fun alternative to their print competitors.

Wanting girls to have the opportunity to show off their incredible talents, readers’ work is showcased each month. “It is an incredible feeling when you get an email from the girls who are bursting with excitement after seeing their name, photo, artwork, music videos or writing pieces in the pages of an issue. Being able to contribute to increasing their self-esteem and feeling great about themselves is what it is all about for us.”

With six issues under their belt, these two mums are thrilled about the interest they have received so far. With Girl Guides Victoria already distributing to their 4,500 plus members and other organisation’s and schools jumping on board, the future of their business and the self-esteem of teen girls everywhere is looking pretty healthy.
