Safety in Action Perth 2014

Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre was budding with industry professionals checking out the latest in technology, knowledge and innovation this week at Safety in Action Perth, produced by Informa Exhibitions.

Given the state’s focus on their large and lucrative mining industry in conjunction with Western Australia’s Safety Reform Strategy, it comes as no surprise that the two-day exhibition was an essential event for all mining businesses.

Perth has experienced radical economic growth in recent years with a number of booming industries including mining and construction expanding rapidly, and with the growth of mining production up 192% and construction also up 134%, it is the industry’s duty to ensure the safety of their workers.

With a population of over 2.5 million, the need for safety within Western Australia is only becoming greater and Safety in Action Perth aims to cater for the hundreds of thousands in employment wanting to stay safe.

Director of Safety in Action Australia-wide, Tony Francis was thrilled to be back to Western Australia.

"We are very happy with the positive feedback from Safety in Action Perth. With Perth’s industry growing from strength to strength there has been immense support from WA based companies for the show.”

The two-day event saw over 100 exhibitors showcasing a comprehensive range of the latest safety-related products and services from across Australia. Some interesting new products included Wrarco, the safety product that increases productivity, Custom Made Hi Vis Work Wear and of course many more.

Safety in Action Perth also provided attendees with the unique opportunity to hear from the industry’s most innovative and safety-conscious brains through the extensive program of free seminars on offer, presented by Workplace Access & Safety.

The free safety seminars by safety thought leaders have again been a huge success, explains Francis.  “Seminar attendees walk away from the show with a huge wealth of insights directly from leaders and experts from a range of safety related fields.”

Move 4 Life’s Terry Wong presented an engaging seminar on How To Future-Proof An Ageing Workforce Against Sprain and Strain Injuries, Workplace Access & Safety tackled Safety Budget Successand the Drinks, Drugs and Work don’t mix panel discussion touched on hot topics. There was something for every safety professional.” adds Francis.

Safety in Action is the ideal platform to launch any safety product with the industry’s top movers and shakers all under one roof. With many new exhibitors to Perth they were happy to showcase to attendees the options available all under one roof.

As always the hotly contested Stand Awards revealed some clear winners, with judges awarding Best Stand 18m2 & Under to Premier Workplace Solutions– Australian owned and experts in providing custom made safety solutions.  ATOM was awarded Best Stand Over 18m2, and Best Stand by a New Exhibitor was presented to Velpic, creators of the cloud based, eLearning and training platform.

With Safety in Action, Informa Exhibitions Australia will continue to deliver the high-quality trade shows that have made these events the big-calendar dates for safety industry professionals.

From 2014, all shows across Australia will be known as Safety in Action. One major three- day show will run in September each year, alternating between Sydney and Melbourne with shows in Perth and Brisbane held in June and April across alternating years.
