Apple and Google's H265 (Codec) compression technology trumped by Australian company

Announcement posted by Accrutus Capital Management Pty Ltd 23 Jun 2014

Intrak, an Australian based R & D technology company has achieved a further 80% reduction in H264 / AVC / MPEG 4 - AVC / MPEG 4 - PART 10 and VP8 (web-M) video files, while Apple and Google continue their epic battle to seize market share.

JUNE 2014

Apple has been busy developing the future H265 or High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), which is a video compression standard, a successor to H.264/MPEG-4 AVC and has been recently approval by the ITU. Applying HEVC to encoding existing SD and HD content will not only enable lower bitrate connecting but provide cost savings! It will also open up the market making ultra-high-definition (UHD) videos possible.

Google VP8 (and its successor VP9) has been developing this licence free codec as a royalty free alternative to anything that Apple offers. Google’s stated intention is not to be in direct competition with H265 (the code for Apple). It comes as no surprise that both Apple & Google are targeting 4K video content on its popular streaming site YouTube for application of this technology.

The Stakes are high for both Apple & Google, who are both rumoured to be spending mega-dollars in development for this technology. Apple is even going to the lengths of developing its own processor to support HEVC on its iPads.

While the developers at Apple & Google have been doing more of the same and pushing the industry in the same direction, a little known Australian Company (Intrak) has come up with a real game changer in the form of Beyond Compression Technology (MVFU). By taking an innovative and smarter approach MVFU reduces the size of files from both the existing compression technology and this latest compression technology by up to 80%! Not only can the smart minds at Intrak do this, they can also convert and reduce existing files to the latest compression standard by up to 80% reduction! Bet you that Apple and Google are wishing they thought of this Reduction Technology, which has now been patented.  Apple and Google executives can breathe a sigh of relive though, MVFU doesn’t compete with compression, it reduces the size of files even further.

Intrak Australia was founded by Ibrahim Nahla, and is responsible for developing the MVFU system which, as previously mentioned, has successfully been able to reduce bandwidth up to 80% beyond compression reduction.

The company is currently seeking to raise $200,000 AUD via the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform. To find out more visit: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/internet-reduction-technology-mvfu

This technology called MVFU by Intrak, is deemed to be a “game changer and disruptive in nature” to the main players in the market such as Skype, YouTube, Sky and Commercial TV channels worldwide who rely on compression technology. When launched MVFU will prove to not only save users time and energy but also money.

“We have succeeded in reducing the bandwidth significantly,” according to a statement from the CEO of Intrak Australia, Ibrahim Nahla, MVFU has been in research and development for a good eleven years. The technology has received international patents and also preparatory pre-MVFU development has been graced with the Asian innovation awards.

Ibrahim Nahla says; ‘The desperate need for MVFU is only highlighted by the massive effort that Apple & Google have expended in developing the next generation compression technology. Some of the urgency in this development is the need to put the infrastructure in place so that Ultra HD takes off in the market place. Samsung alone has recently announce another $5.8 billion dollar investment in producing AMOLED panels, after already spending around $8 billion to develop this piece of HD TV tech.

The benefits of MVFU technology seem endless, with less global carbon footprints, doubling the number of internet uses predicted to increase to 10 billion by 2016, and reducing the cost of internet and smart phone bills to name a few. As of right now there really is no green solution to the virtual world, and Intrak’s MVFU seems to be one of the first of the major players in the game.

William Horton the Marketing & Commercial Manager of Intrak Australia says; ‘You might be interested to know that while you’re enjoying TV on your mobile and watching a film on an Ultra HD set, this is NOT without impact. Not only does the community have to pay for a larger pipe (more towers & cables and the rest) and yet more support infrastructure such as 3 million call centres and counting. All this activity uses power and lots of it, actually 30 Billion Watts annually! So the community yet again shells out large bucks to build massive power stations, so you can have a better digital entertainment experience. The cost is even greater as the 24/7 requirement of this support infrastructure (especially call centres) makes it hard for alternative energy to be fully implemented. Worse still the cost of electricity is linked to the amount consumed and there are no prizes for guessing which way it’s going and that up and up! This might be good if you’re an Apple or Google shareholder, but not so great if you’re elderly and struggling to make ends meet.  So let’s collectively save the world’s energy resources and get behind the campaign now!’
