Announcement posted by Aurecon 15 Jul 2014

Aurecon has made some management changes in its Brisbane office with the appointment of Neil Barr as manager. Neil takes over the role from Chris Lawson.

Neil joined Aurecon in December 2000 as a civil engineer before progressing to the role of General Manager of New Zealand based in Wellington.

In 2011, Neil was appointed as Head of Australia and New Zealand Offices and moved to Brisbane in 2012. He was responsible for leading the operational and strategic direction of the Darwin, Cairns, Mackay, Gladstone, Newcastle, Canberra, Tauranga, and Christchurch offices.

Commenting on the appointment, Bill Cox, General Manager ANZ for Aurecon, said, “Neil will focus on the growth of Aurecon’s Brisbane office, supported by over 600 professionals with experience across a broad range of disciplines.  His wealth of experience will ensure we continue to build our capability to meet our clients’ requirements with flexible delivery models across all the markets we operate in.”

Neil immigrated to New Zealand from Scotland in 2000. Prior to this move he worked within the UK contracting industry with Edmund Nuttall Ltd.

Neil said: “I am really looking forward to this new challenge, to maintaining our relationships with existing clients and expanding our client base further. My personal driver is to realise the potential of our clients and our people by first listening, then understanding, then acting.”

Bill added: “It is important to acknowledge Chris Lawson’s significant contribution to Aurecon. Chris has been with the organisation for close on 10 years. He has been managing the Brisbane office since 2009 and has led the team through a period marked by significant change achieving some strong results.

“Chris will still be a vital part of Aurecon moving into the role of Head of Integrated Project Delivery Services. He remains based in Brisbane,” he said.
