AUSTRALIA, Wednesday 23rd
July, 2014 — CellOPark announced today that their integrated ticket-less “Pay as
You Go” parking solution first deployed in January 2013 at Curtin University in
Western Australia has received an Award of Merit from The International Parking
Institute (IPI), the largest association of parking industry professionals in
the world. Representatives from both Curtin University and CellOPark Australia
recently attended the IPI 2014 Expo in Dallas Texas where the awards for
innovation in the parking industry were announced.
“We knew that the
technical integration work linking Pay-by-Phone, Pay-by-App, Student / Staff
databases, Licence Plate Recognition and Way-finding signage systems for the
Curtin University PAYG solution was innovative” said Michael Doherty General
Manager of CellOPark Australia “To receive this international recognition is
confirmation that all involved should be very proud. Technology is playing an
ever-increasing role in the efficient and effective management of parking and
as we see more software based solutions come to market with an ability to
integrate via industry standard API’s, we also see an ability to deliver a
unified and cohesive solution to parking providers and their motorist users.”
We are seeing an
increasing amount of interest from other campus based parking providers as well
as local councils. When deciding between traditional hardware based parking
solutions and making use of the technology in almost every motorists pocket,
CellOPark is an easy decision to make, especially for a student demographic”
Said Doherty
To use CellOPark, motorists
install a free native app on their Apple or Android smartphone and register
vehicle, phone and payment details to create an account. Starting a paid
parking session is then simply a matter of selecting a matching zone in the app
and pressing ‘start’ or pointing the phones camera at a QR code on CellOPark
Signage. Non smartphone users can also enjoy the convenience of the CellOPark
system by registering for free at www.cellopark.com.au and calling the sign
posted number with caller ID enabled and
following the prompts.Parking officers enforce the ticketless
parking by checking vehicle licence plates in the system using their own
internet connected devices and Vehicle mounted License Plate Recognition technology.
