Have you scheduled enough tweets for the week? Did you cross promote your blog on Google+? What’s your password again for Pinterest?

If you’re a green business you most likely have at least three social media profiles not including your blog and website – how can you find a streamlined way to coordinate all of your posts in one space.

CoSchedule editorial calendar for WordPress

CoSchedule editorial calendar for WordPress

The solution might be easier than you think. I’ve recently come across this WordPress plugin software called CoSchedule. Heard of it? Me either until last week. I signed up for the free trial (2 weeks) and have been playing around. CoSchedule is an editorial calendar and content publishing platform that integrates within the back-end of your WordPress site. Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to CoSchedule and create an account (you’ll need your WordPress login info)

  2. Connect your social media accounts (CoSchedule integrates with Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr, Google+ and LinkedIn)

  3. Integrate extras like Google Analytics or Bitly (super easy to do)

  4. On the left hand side click on your blog (you can connect more than one) and by default you’ll see your content calendar – click on the pencil icon in the upper right hand corner of the day you’d like a post to publish and select “new blog post” or “new social message”. What’s great you’ll notice that from here you can also add related social media messages that tie in with your blog. CoSchedule automatically includes the link and title of your blog – very convenient. Then click “add post”.

If you’ve selected “new blog post” you will see the scheduled blog in your WordPress. CoSchedule does not allow to add the actual content of the blog so you’ll still need to add that manually in WordPress. Some great features about CoSchedule are:

Drag and drop – just as in Outlook Calendar or Google Calendar if you want to change the day a blog is scheduled to post you can drag and drop into a new day and all of the social media content connected will follow

Google Calendar integration – if you’d like to able to see a bird’s-eye view of your scheduled content CoSchedule integrates with Google Calendar (hint: you may want to create a separate Google Calendar to not clog up your main calendar)

Using CoSchedule can be a great way to allow you to manage your social media team and efforts – providing you a “forest from trees” view on all your online publishing activity. You can schedule content or invite a staff member to help – CoSchedule also provides permissions settings so you can stay in control of what is published.

Note: Would like to see CoSchedule offer better Google+ integration as your currently have to use Buffer to integrate it but other than that it works very well.
