Launch of Australia's First Seachange Centre

Announcement posted by SeaChange Centre 06 Aug 2014

Designed for time-poor people who want to leave the city and move to the country, but have something holding them back. It's a central resource that will help them to relocate, whether that is a seachange or a treechange, anywhere in Australia.

The Seachange Centre was launched at the Country NSW Expo at Sydney's Olympic Park on 2-3 Aug.

"It’s an Australian first" said founder Margo Courtney, who seachanged herself 2 years ago. "It will help people achieve their seachange or treechange dreams. We have enabled a community of seachangers to form and help each other. A lot of people each contributing a bit of what they have learned on their seachange journey will become a large pool of knowledge that can be accessed to help make relocation much easier, saving time, money and frustration. It makes sense - why re-invent the wheel?"

People who have already made their seachange tell their stories of how they did it to inspire others, and show that there are many different ways to seachange. The website also shares resources, articles, amusing anecdotes, and information about destinations.

"There's been a lot of interest and support for this",  Margo said. "Infrastructure in the cities is barely keeping up with population increases, while regional areas are crying out for skills and new people. When city people seachange, both problems can be alleviated".
