City of Rockingham Continues Upgrades

Announcement posted by Smartline Rockingham 19 Aug 2014

Mortgage brokers explain how the new Rockingham budget will continue to enhance sustainable growth and infrastructure.
Rockingham, WA, 19 August 2014 - The 2014/15 budget for the City of Rockingham was a cooperative effort between the government and citizens of Rockingham. The City employed a six month consultation period within which citizens were allowed to give unlimited input. While the tax rate was raised slightly, most parties involved agreed that a minimal tax increase was necessary for continuing a sustainable foundation for future capital and physical growth.

The City of Rockingham has a collective vision for a vital Rockingham continuing into the foreseeable future. They are keen on ensuring that projected population growth is met by sufficient infrastructure and robust economic growth. This is balanced with the goal of keeping Rockingham family-friendly and retaining the traits that make Rockingham such a desirable place to live.

Important Projects Recently Finished

The City of Rockingham recently saw one important project finished with another set to finish any day as of this writing. The Mary Davies Library and Community Centre in Baldivis opened its doors in July. It cost $12.8 million and is the fourth library in the City of Rockingham’s library system.

It functions as a meeting place for Baldivis, providing programs for all, from toddler to senior citizen. Not only does it give those in Baldivis their own gathering place, it also takes some of the stress out of the system’s other three libraries.

The other important project is Kulija Road, which will connect Rockingham directly to the Kwinana Freeway and thus into the Perth CBD. The project, which cost $17.8 million, is projected to far outperform its costs, both in convenience and in the economic benefits provided by easier access to the Kwinana Freeway.

More Projects Coming Up

It has, indeed, been a banner year for the City of Rockingham, but they aren’t stopping. Their collective goal is to provide a sustainable economic future for their citizens. Consequently, more projects will always be in the works to ensure that the infrastructure is always solid enough for the population.

An upgrade costing $5 million is scheduled for the Secret Harbour Surf Life Saving Club (SHSLSC). The SHSLSC will be receiving a new pavilion that will greatly enhance the area and create more economic opportunities as well as providing more entertainment and recreation. In addition, $3.6 million is earmarked to upgrade the Val Street Jetty.

Justin Smith, a mortgage broker for Smartline Rockingham, has a wealth of experience in the Rockingham area and is excited about the growth:

“It’s really a great time to be living in Rockingham. There is a lot going on and the community will continue to reap the benefits of the current improvements far into the future. Thanks to the Kulija Road project, it has just become a lot easier for those in Perth and all along the Kwinana Freeway to do business with Rockingham.”

Mr Smith concluded, “Rockingham’s future looks even better than our present.”
