Australian-developed Innovation Beats Multinationals for Tender Win

MELBOURNE, Australia – August 18, 2014 – Task Retail Technology (TASK) today announced it has won a competitive tender for an extensive overhaul of the Melbourne Racing Club’s (MRC) existing Point-of-Sale (POS) software and associated infrastructure systems.

Melbourne Racing Club awarded TASK the tender due to its ability to incorporate widespread functionality into the one solution, as well as the ability to innovate and customise features to meet MRC’s needs.

“We felt TASK was always looking towards the future as we were,” said Warren Horton, Chief Financial Officer of the Melbourne Racing Club.“TASK’s xchangexec solution is not just a POS system, but also offers the capability of the Club to move to a fully integrated customer relationship management and loyalty management system, with a sophisticated and scalable POS solution and real-time inventory management.”

TASK’s xchangexec will be housed on a dedicated MRC server in the TASK cloud. Other decision-making criteria included xchangexec’s potential for complete integration with MRC’s existing Ungerboeck Software Events and Financial Management System (EFMS) and its superior reporting and usability.

“The team at TASK thought about ways to meet our requirements and looked for a solution that would meet the Club’s current and future needs,” said Mr. Horton.

To ensure MRC invited the most innovative technology companies into the tender process, they enlisted the expertise of an external consultant and industry expert. Six companies participated, a combination of large multinationals, including Micros and InfoGenesis, as well as local innovators including TASK.

On July 5, Caulfield Racecourse went live with 87 xchangexec POS terminals across the facility. Phase two includes digital signage and menu board upgrades across all the MRC’s restaurants, bars and food service areas, “Caulfield is the first of our facilities to be overhauled. Once we deliver on the offering at our Caulfield facility we will begin at Sportingbet Park,” Mr. Horton said.

“We have had an extremely positive relationship with the TASK team. They were there on day one, throughout the process and on our go live date,” said Mr. Horton. “The support since the go-live date has been outstanding.”

“TASK was pleased to be invited to the tender process and we were able to demonstrate the superiority of xchangexec and emerge as the front runner,” said Daniel Houden, CEO of TASK.

“Our partnership with MRC is thriving and it is a pleasure to work, collaborate and innovate with the MRC team.”
