Multicultural Communities Council Gold Coast Unveils the New Look for Their Aged & Community Service

Announcement posted by MCCGC 25 Aug 2014

CÜRA Community Services launched at Seniors Week 2014

To celebrate 30 years of dedication to community services on the Gold Coast, Multicultural Communities Council Gold Coast (MCCGC) announced the re-branding of their Aged and Community Service under the name of “CÜRA Community Services” at the 6th annual Seniors Week International Café event last week.

CÜRA (pronounced coo-ra) means “care” in Latin and brings to life the organisations vision for an inclusive community that values cultural diversity.  The International Café event marked the official launch for the new CÜRA Community Services brand.

Key speakers at the event included Mark Tucker Evans from COTA, Verity Barton MP State Member for Broadwater and MCCGC and CÜRA Community Services Executive Manager, Sue Graham. Ms Graham stated, “The International Café event is our annual celebration of community and diversity. On the Gold Coast we have many people from different cultural communities that have helped shape our care offering and are at the heart of our service and rebrand.”

The goal of CÜRA Community Services is to support consumers to remain in their homes by building individual care packages based on needs and preferences.

For example:

- Providing culturally sensitive consultations and case management including dementia and palliative care support

- Matching consumers with home care workers specific to their needs (we speak over 30 languages!)

 - Providing a variety of in-home assistance, from showering to meal services and cleaning

- Providing clinical care to ensure ongoing health needs are met eg: recovery from medical procedures, medication monitoring, home assessments to ensure living areas are safe and manageable

- Allied Health support eg: physiotherapy (exercise, mobility, strength and balance) and occupational therapy (home modification assessments, assistive technology)

- Offering a wide range of activities, groups, outings, and wellness centre program

- Providing delicious take home meals prepared by our chef

The CÜRA Community Services brand will be rolling out over the next few months. For more information contact info@curacares.com or (07) 5527 8011

About MCCGC:

Multicultural Communities Council Gold Coast Inc. is the peak multicultural organisation on the Gold Coast.

The organisation was established in 1983 in response to the growing number of migrants, new arrivals and refugees. It was identified that their needs, particularly those from Non-English speaking backgrounds, were not adequately being met by existing main stream services.

Multicultural Communities Council Gold Coast was incorporated in 1986 with a charter that ensured people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds had equal access to appropriate services for their on-going health and wellbeing.

Today, MCCGC rebrands their Aged and Community Services to “CÜRA Community Care” in celebration of 30 years on the Gold Coast.
