Teknowledge Whips Up Plans For A West Bengal State Tourism App

West Bengal has always been one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in India. The internationally acknowledged mobile app development company is currently working on a new iPhone application, which would showcase the tourism sector of West Bengal. In an exclusive interview, the CEO of Teknowledge revealed that it had always been his wish to make a detailed mobile travel guide on the state. Being an avid traveler himself (he will be off for a trip to South Africa soon!), he appreciates the need for real-time, updated travel information for outstation travelers. That’s precisely what the new app will provide.

Unlike the handful of Bengal tourism apps already present at stores, the mobile software from Teknowledge would focus primarily on depth, accuracy and extent of information. More than a month’s research has already gone in, to identify the precise types of data that tourists to the state look for. In addition, Teknowledge had also organized a survey - in order to find out the common hassles that they faced. The upcoming app (tentatively named ‘WB Tourism’) would be bridging this information-gap, so that vacationing at the scenic state becomes easy indeed.

Although Teknowledge has already developed several travel-based apps (like Stopover and Pocket Navigator) which are highly popular in Australia and the US - this will be the first time the company will be promoting the attractions of an Indian location. The mobile app developer in charge of the project informed that the app would have details on the major tourist hotspots in all the 19 districts of West Bengal. This would come in handy for users who are chalking up a tour itinerary to the state.

The tourism app would have further surprises for those who love theme vacations. Going by the first look of the application (revealed yesterday at a media event), popular travel destinations in the state will be divided under multiple categories. Users will be able to find the best romantic getaways, honeymoon spots, religious destinations, village tour options and a whole lot more - only in the matter of a few clicks/taps. Providing all the necessary help for planning enjoyable and customized holidays in Bengal - Teknowledge is looking to provide just that.

In addition to sightseeing details, the app would let users access plenty of other practical, important information. Once any district is chosen by a person, the best accommodation options (both budget and luxury hotels) over there will be displayed. With local gastronomic delights being one of the key attractions of this state in Eastern India, the app would provide updated information, menu details and locations of the top-reviewed restaurants across West Bengal. Follow the app, and discover real great eating joints!

Users would also have the option to store the details of their favorite tourist spots in Bengal, on the app. There will be a ‘MyFavorites’ section for this purpose. Transportation - yet another critical element while drawing up travel plans - will be highlighted upon too. Flight, train and bus availability and timings (for getting into the state, and traveling to locations within the state) will be available on the mobile application. If a tourist wishes to hire a rental car, (s)he can directly contact leading vehicle hire companies via the app.

It has not yet been finalized whether ‘WB Tourism’ would be a free or a paid app, and if it would contain in-app advertisements. Whatever might be the case, the initial blueprint of the app suggests that it would find great favor among people interested in visiting West Bengal.
