CAUDIT Announces Agreement With Citrix

- Deal offers Universities Enterprise Solutions at Entry Level Cost -

Citrix Systems Asia Pacific today announced a two year agreement with the Council of the Australian University Directors of Information Technology (CAUDIT).

The agreement offers the 52 members of CAUDIT in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the South Pacific, access to Citrix's enterprise level program collectively. Ongoing Citrix enterprise maintenance and support is also provided as part of the agreement.

CAUDIT's mission is to promote and advance the use and support of IT in teaching and learning, research and administration in the Universities of Australia and New Zealand through the competent management of IT services and the education of its clients. Members include Universities throughout Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the South Pacific as well as CSIRO in Australia.

"Australian and New Zealand universities are aggressive adopters of IT" said Nick Tate, Chair of CAUDIT and Director of Information Technology Services and AusCERT at the University of Queensland. "Citrix has been used by many universities to enable centralised application deployment and industry-standard secure remote access regardless of platform."
An early advocate of the Citrix Server Based Computing model is the University of Queensland in Brisbane. The University first started using Citrix MetaFrame in 2001 and since this time, the Information Technology Services team has migrated to MetaFrame XP(tm) and deployed multiple platforms to a wide array of end user machines with minimal effort. In an initiative to provide the University of Queensland with a range of software applications delivered via the University's Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) Facilities, Citrix NFuse Classic was used to power UQAPS (University of Queensland Application Publishing Service). This is now being further integrated into the university's staff portal.
"As a global vendor with a strong local presence, particularly in the R&D space, Citrix strongly supports all initiatives which help foster and develop local talent for the IT and communications industry," said Gary O'Brien, marketing director, Citrix Systems Asia Pacific. "This new deal is significant for CAUDIT members in that it enables universities to deploy an enterprise level IT environment that for some members would have been unachievable in the past due to the level of cost."
