One-stop online destination for the best in Australian and New Zealand design and style launched

New startup creates a central hub / one-stop destination for online shoppers seeking Australian and NZ design and retail

A gap in the online shopping experience and a passion for Australian and NZ design and retail has led a small group of friends to launch www.shoptrawl.com, a website that specifically supports and promotes Australian and New Zealand businesses in the design and retail sectors.

“We were tired of searching online for great local products, designers and retailers without much success. We wanted the best in Australian and New Zealand design and retail to be more accessible and cohesive in the online space.

“When we did stumble across amazing local designers and stores featuring beautiful womenswear, menswear, home wares and/or kids' clothing and products, we’d often lose track of them, and bookmarking sites can be cumbersome. So we decided to create a central hub that brings this talent together and makes it easy for shoppers, buyers and stylists to trawl through great products from Australian and New Zealand designers and retailers, all in one place”, Sally Langford, Co-Founder of shoptrawl says.

“We are also seeing many Australian designers struggle to stay afloat in the face of increasing competition on our shores from huge multinational companies. We love the design aesthetic in Australia and New Zealand and wanted to create a platform where shoppers could easily support these businesses”.

shoptrawl isn’t an online store. Instead, the site pushes traffic towards the online stores of Australian and New Zealand designers and retailers. When a user wants to buy a product, they are redirected to the external site to purchase their products directly from the merchant.

The user experience has always been key to shoptrawl’s development. “Visitors to the site can create their own virtual shopping experience for free. They can add stores/designers as ‘favourites’, tailor their search accordingly, and save items to wishlists” Langford says.

It is free for users to sign up for a shoptrawl account. Businesses can apply to partner with shoptrawl at partner@shoptrawl.com.
