LOCAL Photographer Auctions print to help local YOUNG DANCER

One of Melbourne’s photographers, Maree Jaeger Photography, is auctioning a unique framed photographic print of the Eureka Tower in Melbourne to help raise funds for a talented local young dancer Merrikk Steinfort who has been selected for the prestigious Australian team to compete as part of The International Dance Organization (IDO).

IDO is a World Dance and Dancesport Federation with a membership of over 90 nations, representing more than 250,000, dancers from six continents. The International Dance Organization IDO is an enormous dance body that competes overseas but is still small here in Australia. The Australian team has competed previously in the world titles in Germany with fantastic results and is now looking at competing in the world titles in 2015.

Australia has a national team that consists of a select number of talented dance students from around the

country ranging from ages 7-17 years old. The children selected for the Australian team have an

extensive dance background and are considered some of the most talented dancers in the country.

Merrikk (aged 10) has been fortunate enough to be selected to be part of the Australian National

team.

According to Maree Jaeger, who likes to give back to various charities and organisations through her business, it made sense to support a local talent this year. Maree has donated the framed print and some gift vouchers for a community driven trivia night to help raise money so that Merrikk can compete for Australia.

Beck Steinfort (Merrikks’ mother) explains that while being selected as part of the Australian National team is a once in a lifetime opportunity, the costs associated with this need to be self-funded by the individual’s family. “We have reached out to the local community to help us make this a reality for our son, and appreciate all the support we have been given to date”

Merrikk has been dancing and singing since he was 4 years old and dance means the world to him. His dream is to sing and dance professionally when he is older. Merrikk shows amazing dedication to his love of dance. He trains 6 days a week and loves every second of it. Not only is Merrikk an incredible dancer is also a beautiful person. He is kind, considerate and has a huge heart.

The Framed print is titled “Eureka Tower Reflected” and was successful in gaining entry into the New North (now known as Photonet Gallery) exhibition in 2010. Bids on the framed print can be emailed to maree@mareejaeger.com.au
