Kool Kids Training College Local Gold Coast RTO Expanding Rapidly

Announcement posted by Kool Kids Training College 04 Sep 2014

For Immediate Release

GOLD COAST – September 4, 2014 - Kool Kids Training College, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) specialising in Children’s Services and Childcare training is launching new classes in the Brisbane market from 1st September 2014.

The move is intended to offer the colleges’ Children’s Services training package to a wider market for Brisbane based students. The training college has been operating on the Gold Coast since 2012.

“The move into Brisbane is a logical one for us for Kool Kids Training College. We have grown very quickly here on the Gold Coast, with a lot of interest coming from our brand

recognition as a childcare centre operator. But away from the Gold Coast, we are still relatively unknown. Offering Certificate III and Diploma classes will be a great challenge,”

said Mr Sam Hendry, Director of Kool Kids Training College.

Population growth in South East Queensland is fuelling the opening and expansion of child care centres right across South East Queensland and the growth means that Child Care Centres are in constant search of Child Care workers.

“It is great to see local Gold Coast RTO’s expanding. Growth in such a thriving city is always fantastic to witness and even more exciting to witness a Study Gold Coast member RTO expand to a large city. This means there is a need and there is interest,” said Ms Shannon Willoughby, CEO of Study Gold Coast.

For year 11 and 12 students contemplating employment next year, now is an ideal time to investigate the child care industry, as there are a lot of job vacancies. The skill shortages affect all states and territories of Australia but are most prominent in NSW and QLD where there are simply not enough workers with the correct qualifications.

“Nearly 70% of Child Care Centre providers have reported difficulty in being able to find qualified staff.

“We understand that it is a competitive market in the delivery of Certificate III and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care in Brisbane, but we also know from our research that the industry needs quality and professionalism in the delivery of this curriculum.

“Decisions about careers are starting to be made with the school year not far off exam time and career planning well underway for school leavers. Furthermore, with mums returning to work at an increasing rate, the option of re-engaging or commencing a career in childcare is very appealing,” said Mr Hendry.

With Australia’s legislative change driving further training requirements for training in the childcare industry, every childcare worker in Australia is to have a minimum a Certificate III in Children’s Services.

“This change should encourage students and workers in the industry to want to ensure they train with a Registered Training Organisation that specialises in Children’s Services. It is all we do. We are not baristas, aged care trainers or fitness trainers. We are only focussed on being the best in Children’s services.

“I applaud all levels of government for getting behind the industry, investing in apprenticeships and subsidies and making the tough decisions to introduce legislative change that requires a higher level of certification for childcare staff. These are the carers for our most precious assets and therefore must know how to manage a day in the life of a child,” said Mr Hendry.

Classes in Logan and Milton commence on 1st September. For further information on enrolment, visit Kool Kids Training College at www.koolkidstrainingcollege.com.au
