Heritage Bank on Savings for Holiday Travellers

Announcement posted by Heritage 08 Sep 2014

Australia’s Heritage Bank presents their customers fond of travelling several saving options so the holiday adventure can both be enjoyable – experience and expense wise.

If running with the bulls in Pamplona, bungee jumping in Queenstown or snow skiing in the Swiss Alps is your dream, they all have one thing in common – expense.  Adventure travel provides a massive adrenalin rush but can also punch a hole in your finances.

Heritage Bank has a couple of tips on how to handle the costs of your big adventure.

Save Up with Target Bonus Account
One great idea is to save up first, so you have your main costs covered before you go.  But don’t just put your money in a normal savings account. Look for an account that gives incentives to save. For instance, Heritage Bank offers a special Target Bonus account that pays bonus interest for every month you make at least one deposit, and no withdrawals.

Go Online Saving
Perhaps an online account may be a good option. Heritage has an
Online Saver account that pays a higher rate of interest but only gives you access to your funds online or through phone banking.  If that’s the way you bank anyway and you are trying simply to save for your trip, it may be a good option to explore.

Of course, a great way to save quickly is to set up a regular direct deposit straight into your holiday account. You can normally organise the direct deposit straight from your pay, or just set it up to come out of your normal transaction account into your special holiday account at the same time each week. The advantage of a direct deposit is that you hardly notice it’s gone, and it lessens the temptation to spend!

Other Bank Alternatives
There are other options to pay for your adventure holiday, such as paying with a credit card or taking out a personal loan. These options are great if you do not have the money upfront but want to have an adventure trip. The downside is that you will still be paying the cost of the trip long after it is over. Let’s hope the adventure makes the cost worth your while!
