MSS Security's Indigenous Employment Initiatives

Announcement posted by MSS Security 11 Sep 2014

MSS Security has formed key partnerships with NANA Australia and Karlka Recruiting Group, as part of our continuing commitment to employment and training opportunities for Indigenous Australians.

NANA Australia and Karlka Recruiting Group are specialist organisations that maximise recruitment and training opportunities for Indigenous Australians, engaging with local communities and promoting local hire.

The partnerships have led to the employment of Indigenous Security Officers in positions across Western Australia.

“We’re very excited about these new partnerships and the real benefits they’ll have for Indigenous Australians. The partnerships will support Indigenous recruitment, training and employment across the country,” said MSS Security HR Manager WA, Sally Pedlow.

MSS Security has also begun a series of employment and training programmes for Indigenous Australians across the country. To date, MSS Security’s partnerships with NANA Australia and Karlka Recruiting Group have been highly successful – with 10 Indigenous Security Officers and Aboriginal Liaison Officers employed across a number of metropolitan and fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) sites. Four Indigenous Australians have also been sponsored for courses in Security Operations (Certificate II) with a view to employment with MSS Security as Security Officers.

“It’s great to see the programmes gaining momentum so quickly. We’re seeing results already, so the future is looking very promising,” said Pedlow.

MSS Security also participated in Karlka’s ‘Making a Real Difference’ event in July of this year, celebrating Karlka’s launch in Perth to represent the Nyiyaparli people.
