Cohen Handler launches Commercial Division with strategic hire of Michael Salvartsis

Sydney, Australia – 17 September, 2014 – Cohen Handler, Australia’s leading buyer’s advocacy group, today announced the appointment of Michael Salvartsis as Commercial Associate to launch the company’s newly created Commercial Division. With an increasing demand from its existing residential client base to expand into commercial real estate, Cohen Handler identified the growing need for a division of the business specifically focused on empowering buyers throughout the commercial property process.

With over 27 years’ experience in the business and property sectors; the appointment of Salvartsis is paramount in launching Cohen Handler’s Commercial Division. Salvartsis brings strong expertise in the commercial property sector, having managed property risk and valuation teams at HSBC Bank for the last 12 years. In addition to HSBC Bank, Salvartsis has also held management roles at Chesterton International and First State Property Group. 

Cohen Handler has seen a significant increase in demand from buyers enquiring about commercial property. While some buyers are looking to diversify their Self-Managed Super Funds, others are interested in purchasing commercial real estate to service their business needs and diversify their portfolios. As such, Cohen Handler identified an opportunity to better service commercial buyers.

“In the last year, we have seen a 20 percent increase in enquiries about commercial property from our existing residential clients looking to expand their property portfolios. The Commercial Division is a natural extension of Cohen Handler’s current offering and is designed to ensure our clients have access to all types of property, whether that is residential or commercial,” said Ben Handler, CEO, Cohen Handler.
