SeaRoad Deploys InfoMotion Warehouse Management Solution for Bass Strait Crossing

Announcement posted by InfoMotion 23 Oct 2014

InfoMotion, a leading provider of supply chain ERP software for the warehousing and logistics sector, has won a contract to deploy a warehouse management solution at SeaRoad Logistics, one of Tasmania’s biggest transport companies.

The InfoMotion warehouse management system, which will integrate with SeaRoad’s existing financial and transport software, will clearly identify all their inventory at SeaRoad’s warehousing facilities located on both sides of Bass Strait, at Bell Bay, Devonport, Evandale, Launceston and Hobart in Tasmania as well as in Webb Dock, Melbourne.  The company operates 20,000+ square metres of warehousing space within these facilities.

InfoMotion’s warehouse management software is a paperless system which caters to all modern contract logistics practices enabling organisations to manage stock control, support RF scanning, automate pricing, deliver customised reporting, and reduce potential errors and time spent on customer queries.  It also enables automation and a reduction in double keying data from the warehousing ERP platform to the financial system providing real-time visibility and end-to-end traceability.

“Our core purpose is to provide service excellence and as a result we are focused on providing our customers with integrated end-to-end warehousing support solutions which in turn enhances their operational capabilities.  We selected InfoMotion following a comprehensive market review and chose the best-of-breed solution based on its highly configurable features, extensive reporting ability, EDI interface and flexible pricing structure. InfoMotion will support our growing warehousing services in both Tasmania and the main land,” says Edwin Cassar, Group Technology Manager, SeaRoad Holdings.

SeaRoad operates from multiple key facilities across Tasmania and Victoria including its headquarters, shipping terminals, warehousing and distribution locations.  SeaRoad Shipping operates a dedicated daily cargo shipping service between Melbourne and Tasmania through its vessels, SeaRoad Mersey and SeaRoad Tamar. SeaRoad Mersey also completes a once-weekly Sunday voyage to Grassy, King Island en route to Devonport.

In addition to the two Bass Strait shipping vessels SeaRoad owns and operates a large road transport and container fleet in addition to cargo handling equipment utilised at its various terminals and depots.  Earlier this year, SeaRoad Holdings announced that it would boost its capacity by 50 per cent with the order of a new German-built cargo ship which will be delivered by late 2016.

Robert Frandsen, Managing Director, InfoMotion, said, “We are delighted that InfoMotion has been selected to provide our warehouse management solution at SeaRoad.  The award is further testament to our ability to provide software, skills and technical experience which help drive innovation and business transformation in supporting great customer experience among Australia’s logistics and warehousing companies.  This in turn ultimately plays a critical role in the overall economy of the country.”
