MEDIA RELEASE, SYDNEY: October 2014: Riopians, the wait is over, with only a handful of golden tickets remaining, Disktrict has decided to reveal the much-lauded line-up for Return to Rio this 14 – 16th November. Remaining tight-lipped up until now and following a couple of Facebook leaks (can nothing remain secret anymore?), it can now be revealed that the 2014 edition boasts an eclectic mix of local and international talent to compliment all the pool party action and fancy dress capers.

Headlining the ultimate weekend away is an artist who’s currently making a lot of noise on the European circuit and is widely regarded as one of the best electronic acts in the world right now. With his eyes firmly fixed on conquering down under, Ten Walls will bebringing his live show, to Return to Rio. With tunes released on Berlin’s flawless Innervisions label and his own label Boso, his title track ‘Gotham’ paved the way for ‘Requiem’ and the Ibiza anthem of the summer ‘Walking with Elephants’. If his debut BBC Radio One Essential Mix this weekend is anything to go by, we’re in for a treat.

Back by popular demand, is Return to Rio resident, international DJ and Shamen front-man Mr C Superfreq. As a pioneering force in the house music scene since 1987 and former co-owner of London clubbing institution The End, Mr C is responsible for dance floor sensations including ‘Move Any Mountain’ and ‘Ebeneezer Goode’.

Having earned a reputation as a DJs DJ, Laura Jones rose to fame at DC10’s Circoloco and has since found homes with cutting edge labels Leftroom, Visionquest and Crosstown Rebels and will be joined by fellow Leftroom and Crosstown Rebel compadre Gavin Herlihy.  With music also released via Cocoon, Gavin’s known for his sublime deep house and crafting no-nonsense future techno.

Accompanying Laura and Gavin on the bill is Sydney duo Yolanda Be Cool.  Having notched up a decade of DJing antics, expect a smithering of old school hip-hop, Chicago house, techno and everything in between.

Next up is the king of underground 90s acid house, MC Scallywag of Spiral Tribe fame. Coming out of 20 years of retirement for this exclusive Australian show, he’s regarded as one of the best MCs in the world Scallywag and Spiral Tribe pioneered the illegal rave scene.  Having rolled with some of the best and most influential artists including Carl Cox and Luke Slater, he has dominated the techno sub-culture through his incredibly long and successful music career and has hosted and performed at a number of festivals and rave events worldwide.

Hailing from Germany, producer and DJ Lake People (Permanent Vacation and Connaisseur Recordings)has a heavy influence on European Electronic Dance Music culture. As the solo project of Martin Enke, Lake People is rooted in the depths of melancholic electronica, with a longstanding past in techno. Making his debut live performance at Return to Rio, magic is to be expected.

While regularly playing for super clubs such as Ministry of Sound and Gatecrasher,Neil Hodgkinson is more at home at gigs that are more about the people and the party, be it in a club or a paddock or Rio style pool party. DJing for the last 20 years on and off under several guises internationally, Return to Rio marks the beginning of a busy summer for Hodgkinson.

The chock-a-block line-up also includes local stalwarts - Simon Caldwell, Ken Cloud, Love Bombs, Ben Korbel, Nick Law and many, many more.

Completing the bill is a selection of up-for-it Riopians, who will be taking to the third stage – ‘Have A Go Disco’.   Hosted by Permission to Shine maniac’s Goodwill and Duncan Fellows, simply bring your favourite tunes along on CD, USB, iPod or phone and get involved.  Expect plenty of madness and the all-important smoke machine and lasers.

On top of an impressive array of artists, round two of Return to Rio promises a Funktion1 sound system, VJs, amazing light installations and impromptu performances. In addition to the music, an action packed itinerary of alternative amusement will also be on offer. From water aerobics, meditation, reiki and yoga to some really weird stuff you’ve never seen before, this is the land of Rio friends and nothing will be quite as you ordinarily know it.

The ultimate weekend away has the basics nailed too – a queue-free-bar stocked with delicious drinks, tasty morsels to eat, clean flushing toilets and hot showers. On the accommodation front, Del Rio Riverside Resort has riverside air-conditioned cabins to rest those laurels along with drive-up camping spots amongst the friendly kangaroos and a range of luxurious accommodation and Glamping options are also available from the resort for an additional cost. Also you can BYO alcohol to consume within your camping area.

Just a mere 90 minutes drive from Sydney, the site also features a range of wholesome activities for one to partake in, including tennis, crazy golf, basketball, volleyball and water skiing.

You. Don’t. Want. To. Miss. This.
