Leading Mobile Tech Company Announces System Upgradation Day

IT and software companies need to have the latest tech resources available at all times. Teknowledge Software, one of the top-ranked mobile app agencies in Asia has provided the latest example of the importance of this rule. Last Wednesday, it was ‘system upgradation day’ at the company - when everyone took a break from their regular work to upgrade their computer operating systems.

Interestingly, each of the 150-odd employees at Teknowledge did the system upgrade at the same time. The sole exception was the CEO, Mr. Hussain Fakhruddin - who had done it a day earlier. As such, he was at a position to guide the developers and UI/UX designers who were upgrading their system on their own. The head of the administrative department was also at hand, overseeing the entire affair.

At Teknowledge Software, around 80% of all the computers are Mac systems, in keeping with its positioning as a dedicated iOS app development company. All of them were upgraded to OS X Yosemite - which, incidentally, was released by Apple only about ten days back. The older Windows systems (running on Windows 7) will be gradually phased out. Within the next three months, Teknowledge will be a ‘Mac-only’ organization.

Mr. Fakhruddin was delighted at the enthusiasm with which every member of his mobile application development team downloaded and installed the upgraded OS X version on their computers. In keeping with the tradition of weekly corporate games at the mobile software company - a small contest had also been arranged. The first two employees who correctly finished the installation of Yosemite the earliest were awarded token prizes. On the day, the regular 9am-7pm working hours at Teknowledge went for a toss - as most employees arrived at office within 8am, all set for what seemed for many of them as a new challenge.

It was not only fun and games for everyone at the company though. A three-member team had worked overnight to format each system, so that Yosemite could be installed on each system properly. Their task was finished only after everyone at the mobile app agency had finished upgrading the systems. Deservedly, the three senior employees were given the rest of the day off.

Mr. Fakhruddin took this opportunity to highlight the importance of using original, licensed software, and staying away from illegal, pirated versions. As he correctly pointed out, there are hundreds of small to medium-scale IT companies which engage in software piracy. The CEO of Teknowledge Software urged everyone to take a stand against such illegal use of software resources. It would be great if other India-based tech and mobile app companies follow the example of Teks - and make it a point to use original software at all times.

Yet another announcement was also made at Teknowledge on Wednesday. While the company does not believe in peering over each employee’s shoulder to watch what (s)he is seeing on their systems - all types of illegal software/music/movie downloads have been banned at the office. Mobile app developers or graphic designers flouting this rule would be given a formal warning the first time. Repeating the same offence would lead to a show-cause, fines, and probable ouster from the company. For close to a decade, Teknowledge has maintained a clean, ethical image about its day-to-day operational policies - and Mr. Fakhruddin certainly wants to keep things that way.
