Los Angeles, CA, October 29, 2014 -- On November 1st, over 520 cities from across the United States will proclaim Extra Mile Day...a day recognizing the capacity we each have to create positive change in ourselves, families, organizations and communities when we go the extra mile. This passionate movement has a purpose of not only acknowledging local volunteer heroes and organizations across America who are “going the extra mile” in making a difference, but the message of the unique day has the power to change everything about our lives.

"We complain about all the things we don’t like in our lives, but all the complaining and wishing in the world won’t change things. When we wait for change, we’re wasting our breath, time and lives,” says Extra Mile Day Founder and motivational guru Shawn Anderson. “Going the extra mile to create that change, however, changes our career options, our financial futures, our relationships and our health. Going the extra mile has the power to change everything about our lives.”

Created in 2009 with 23 cities making the inaugural declaration, Extra Mile Day has continued to build enthusiastic momentum each year since. This year, 520+ cities will make the unique declaration.

According to Anderson, “The Extra Mile Day movement reminds us that the positive change we seek in our lives and in society begins not with a partner, a boss or a government program. Change begins with the person we each look at every day in the mirror.”
