San Remo is pleased to announce popular Masterchef finalist Laura Cassai as its latest brand ambassador.

Laura, who lives on a vineyard at McLaren Vale in South Australia, said she was excited at the opportunity to represent the award-winning, privately owned 100% Australian company.“I am very honoured to take on this new role and help share San Remo’s outstanding range of pasta products and show people the best way to cook pasta and easily create delicious meals that the entire family can enjoy,” Laura says.

“Having grown up in a household with a proud Italian heritage, home-style pasta meals have featured at all our major family celebrations and still remains a favourite meal – with cous cous probably my perfect meal of choice because it is quick, easy to prepare and very tasty”.

Her connection to her Italian roots was strengthened when she was 6 years old when her family moved to Tuscany for two years, which deepened her understanding about pasta culture and tradition.

“I developed a passion for food under the watchful and patient eyes of my nonna Maria and nonna Rosa, and it was their influence that helped to spark my desire to make a career out of working with quality food and creating culinary masterpieces to be enjoyed,” Laura says.

“My mother Anita has also played a major role, and she has shared her own knowledge and experience with me, and been consistently supportive in everything that I have chosen to do in life,” she says.

“As a San Remo ambassador I want to show people how to easily combine fresh and seasonal ingredients with quality pasta, to create meals that are perfect for busy couples, working parents, large family gathering, or a dinner party to remember. My favourite type of food is home-style cooking with a modern twist.”

Laura says her experience as a Masterchef finalist has given her increased confidence to try new flavour combinations and developing new recipe ideas.

“It was a great opportunity to broaden my knowledge about the versatility of different ingredients – particularly those that match well with different types of pasta - and better understand how they can complement each other when creating meals,” Laura says.

She has just finished filming a number of San Remo recipe videos, is putting the final touches on a cookbook due for release in 2015 and continues working full time as a chef in an Adelaide restaurant.

In her role as a San Remo ambassador, Laura will also be busy attending a variety of major events and cooking demonstrations at shopping centres and other key locations around Australia, showing the public how simple it is to turn quality pasta into extraordinary meals which can be prepared at home.
