Network Appliance iSCSI Storage Systems Achieve Designed For Windows Logo Qualification
Network Appliance iSCSI products join the Microsoft Windows Server Catalog
Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP) has announced that the NetApp FAS960, FAS960C, FAS940, FAS940C F825, F825C, FAS250 and the NearStore R150 storage appliances have completed the Designed for Windows logo testing for iSCSI hardware targets.
The Microsoft Windows Server Catalog identifies products that have been designed and tested to receive the Designed for Windows logo. The logo ensures the product meets Microsoft standards for iSCSI compatibility and interoperability with the Windows platform.
Network Appliance Marketing Manager for South Asia, Harry Christian, said, There is no doubt the iSCSI storage market will grow very rapidly and we have been working cooperatively with Microsoft both at the HQ level and here in Australia, in the interests of customers. They have eagerly awaited iSCSI solutions being included in the Microsoft Windows Server Catalogue and this qualification recognises the strength of NetApp products for the enterprise Windows environment.
NetApp provides what todays data-intensive enterprises demand from their storage systems: affordable reliability, centralised management, simplified backup and disaster recovery capabilities, scalability and serviceability. The combination of Microsofts iSCSI software initiator and NetApp iSCSI storage enables a whole new category of direct attached storage customers to realise the benefits of SAN solutions using existing Ethernet and IP networks.
We believe that the emerging and important iSCSI storage market is poised for significant growth. Microsoft is pleased that NetApp has qualified their iSCSI hardware targets to help ensure interoperability with the Microsoft Windows platforms, said Bruce Burns, director Platform Strategy & Partner Group at Microsoft Corporation. We also welcome the inclusion of NetApp storage systems into the new iSCSI Storage category of the Microsoft Windows Server Catalog.
