Announcement posted by Leverage PR 27 Nov 2014

Australia Medic Alert Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Heidi Jones as Chief Executive Officer of the national not-for-profit organisation.

Medic Alert Foundation Chair, Ms Margaret Gehrig, said Ms Jones’ extensive senior management, strategic planning, and business development experience made her a well-credentialed choice for this critical role.

“Heidi comes to the Medic Alert Foundation after working for many years in a senior lead consultant role with Hender Consulting, where she provided HR and business support to clients nationally,” Ms Gehrig said.

“She offers a strong understanding of the strategic challenges and opportunities facing our organisation and her successful track-record in business development will support Medic Alert on the next stage of its growth journey,” she said.

“I am confident that under Heidi’s leadership our small but dedicated national team of highly-trained and passionate individuals will see our organisation go from strength to strength.”

“Medic Alert Foundation has an enviable reputation as a market leader, and I want to develop and implement strategies that will achieve continued national growth and build on the services that are currently provided to our membership,” Ms Jones said.

“Strengthening working relationships with leading professional bodies and other not-for-profit agencies and organisations across Australia is a critical area of focus, because it will ultimately create a far more integrated service model for the people we support,” she said.

“When you look at successful organisations, a common theme is a commitment to innovate, and it is important to identify new opportunities that will enhance our membership services and consider how emerging technologies could be used to assist with emergency identification.”

Prior to her Hender role, Ms Jones spent four years as the Director of Corporate Services for South Australian disability service provider, scosa, where she managed an extensive corporate services team.

She also spent more than four years in a General Manager role at the Adelaide Eye & Laser Centre, where she led the change of business from an ophthalmic practice to a specialised, licensed day surgery facility. Her other responsibilities included marketing, HR, contract management and procurement, and finance.

Ms Jones also spent several years as a non-medical executive at Adelaide North East Division of General Practice where she managed all aspects of the business, and was pivotal in implementing the start-up phase of Commonwealth-funded entity.
